If a dog were your teacher

If a dog were your teacher
These are some of the lessons you might learn...

When loved ones come home, always run to greet them
Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride
Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face
to be pure ecstasy

When it's in your best interest
practice obedience
Let others know when they've invaded your territory
Take naps and stretch before rising
Run romp and play daily

Thrive on attention and let people touch you
Avoid biting, when a simple growl will do
On warm days stop to lie on your back on the grass
On hot days drink lots of water and lay under a shady tree
When you're happy dance around and wag your entire body

No matter how often you're scolded
don't buy into the guilt thing and pout
run right back and make friends

Delight in the simple joy of a long walk
Eat with gusto and enthusiasm
Stop when you have had enough
Be loyal
Never pretend to be something you're not

If what you want lies buried
dig until you find it
When someone is having a bad day
be silent .....
...sit close by.

...and nuzzle them gently.

Trying to get back on track

I have been down and not doing anything sewing related since my mom past, just can't get in the mood. I think it's time now to crawl from that rock and do something I love. I signed up for Fernhill button club by Lynette Anderson and just received my first block and really excited to begin. I also have to finish my Orca Bay quilt for my son and I have a lot of unfinished tops I really want to get finished this year.

Is it summer already?

Well the holidays are over so maybe it's about time I write something new before the summer is upon us. It's been an amazing January with my daughter and now that she is in UK again I miss her. I haven't done any sewing since I had to go to Iceland and now that my sister and her hubby are coming to visit I will wait until they are gone to carry on with the Orca Bay.

Memory of MOM

In memory of my mom that passed this Sunday.

Mamma

Mamma thank you for who I am, thank you for all the things I'm not
Forgive me for the words unsaid for the times I forgot
Mamma remember all my life you showed me love, you sacrificed
Think of those young and early days how I've changed along the way

And I know you believed and I know you had dreams
And I'm sorry it took all this time to see
That I am where I am because of your truth
And I miss you, yeah I miss you

Mamma forgive the times you cried, forgive me for not making right
All of the storms I may have caused and I've been wrong dry your eyes
Cause I know you believed and I know you had dreams
And I'm sorry it took all this time to see
That I am where I am because of your truth

And I miss you, I miss you
Mamma I hope this makes you smile, I hope you're happy with my life
At peace with every choice I made how I've changed along the way
Cause I know you believed in all of my dreams
And I owe it all to you , mamma

December is here

Well, well, well December is already here. It’s just a few days since it was February it seems. I can see I am running out of time to do all the the things I was going to do this year and haven’t finished. Well there is always next year.

The 3rd part of Orca Bay mystery is up so I can work on that in between everything else I need to finish. It’s simply not enough hours in the day.

Stringing along

Just finished my string blocks yestarday for the Orca Bay Mystery and they are so fun to make and cute. They are 3.5 inches. I used doodle paper from the dollar store to sew them on and it's so easy to take the paper of the back and they are perfect.

I finished sewing a couple of wine bags over the weekend, no pictures yet, going to give them away and cut out a extra special Christmas stockings for 3 cats and a dog. Ohh the things you do for your pets. Looking forward to sewing them when my back allows, sitting with a heat pad on it now and took some pain killers, hope that helps.

Sewing on

The first clue in the Orca Bay Mystery quilt came out the Friday before last and it was 224 hourglass units in 2.5 inches. That means cutting 4 x 224 triangles and sewing them together, oh my that is a lot of triangles. Well it wasn't so bad when I found out how to use the companion ruler and layer the fabric so it was easier to sew it afterwards. So all weekend and last week I sewed these little darlings and 2 Christmas stockings and 3 tea wallets. Yes I know I can't really just have one thing to sew at a time, can I.

Here they are so beautiful and finished
